Studies,my dears.

Wednesday the oil painting class I'm in took a field trip to The Getty in Los Angeles. Our assignment;find a painting to make a composition study of. We went all through the painting and this is the one I liked the best. Yes,it really hits my love of fashion and character design,ha! Sargent is apparently very popular among illustrators so it's no wonder I was drawn to it. "He played up the features of his sitters" the teacher told us while looking at this. The reason I picked this painting tho was because of the smug look on her face that I'm going to most likely hate painting by the end of 3 weeks work. Yup,we do comp sketches of our chosen painting then paint it in oil for 3 week.

Monday, Adri and I went to DrawMelt for the Extreme cosplay life drawing sessions they have every week. Oh the crap I seemed to start. I said that in class (back in art school) that our teacher was brutal when we even forgot out huge sketch book. That this wasn't like a class because there wasn't restrictions like that at drawmelt. I loved drawing from a live model but isn't that more of a salon than a class? I guess that makes me a bit rigid to think that classes require strict lecture. Thanks Marjan. (My Anatomy 1 teacher from school. Long lectures & harsh critique) for making me a bratty art snob of sorts.

More life drawing studies,huzah!
Sitting in a Brentwood Starbucks there are so many people who wear sunglasses indoors it was hard to get a good read on anyone. Brentwood you is bitchy as hell too. So many people complaining and walking with the entitled air of faux aristocrats. Can you tell I'm not a fan of Brentwood? I'm sure anyone who knows her name or met her also might agree Janis Dickinson is a cunt but did you know she throws baby tantrums when someone slightly messes up a drink? Like MINIMAL mess up like chia seads not being blended enough. ("I want what I want!" ::stomp::) People are hilarious! Don't stop being you, people. You fuel my writing I love you.

Second life drawing here was done in good ol' Hollywood. Guy 1 was getting on the 217 at H&H and he was a very cantankerous old artsy man. I'd seen him in the train below,he glared at me for letting him go first on the escalator(really man?) then keep glaring at me when he seen were taking the same bus. So in protest I drew him! Guy 2 was on the 761 down Sepulvida and I just thought his style was really cool.

Made this waiting for an interviewer Monday. They were an hour late and I didn't get the job but I got to draw a lot. ALL MY GIRL CHARACTERS SO FAR. Missing about 3 more but they didn't fit.

This is how I make comics sometimes. Script with some layout doodles. Usually done in my sketch book but why not lined paper? It's cheaper and easier to write script on. This is for Sugar & Salt, the simi animated comic to be posted by May I hope. I really love how Pusheen does their animated comics so think of it that way in visual style but about 2 arty kids. I'm kind of noticing most of our interactions happen at the super market,oh the hub of social life!
Sometimes I need a wardrobe revamp and I look up pretty thing I want to make. This time it's Gothic Lolita on my chubby frame. Being me of course I'd be a pastel EGL because COLORS! I have seen chubby lolitas but usually what's around is thin lolitas. This makes me feel awkward since I am big chested and still feel I'd look funny with so many ruffles on my boob area. These are not exaggerated either, they may even be smaller drawn boobs as I'm self conscious.
