Rise of this Phenix

Click to read the comic bigger
Let me start with a comic. I had an interview 2 weeks ago for what I thought was a telemarketing or petition pusher job. I didn't really want to go in the first place because it felt so off...

I walk in and they lead me toward a room. I look to the right and see people at a make shift movie viewing area. The interviewer began by MUMBLING off random percentages about welfare, the 1% and working class and other things that just were not related. Then I asked what was this job about, would I have to buy something to get started/pay to get the job ect.

She stumbled to answer my questions. I could see her gears just break down behind her robot eyes it was hilarious! Then I proceeded to ask what I would be selling or who I'd be selling to. This lady was so taken aback by a human with brains she shut down and said "I just don't think this job is for you" then I said "is it my hair?"(it was still red at the time)  She replied "No. It's just,...you're asking too many questions."I swear word for word she said this! Then she said that she would call me and all but threw me out by my knickers!

Let's case the joint boys!

The next week I was job searching as usual and found a posting for Jersey Mike's on craigslsit. Went out to it not thinking i'd get it at all because of all the rejection this whole year with jobs. I was early as usual so I hit up McDonald's for a soda. A gang of pigeons came flying in to bother people for food but then a tiny sparrow came hopping out with them and it looked like the boss!

Needless to say I got the job on the spot. It was jarring but it's a job and I'm grateful to have one. This is the start to a way to get where I want to be in life. haha yea a fast food job can help a little at least. Making comics, writing novels and freelance design work, maybe even a studio. Of course they built us all up in college about getting studio jobs in at least post production but not everyone is so lucky.

I wonder if Subway employees feel this stressed out making sandwiches the fast food way. Rude customers and all picking you apart while watching you make their food. Like a sport. Not sorry to say that I prefer sit downs and cafe's to fast food. There WILL be comics on this soon. Already there are funny things about this monkey job.

Christmas time is so close! This year since I have a little job AND a redbubble store I'm drawing something for my boyfriend that I hope he likes. I mustered up all the manly things I could to draw this battle of Ooo with older characters. Flame Princess,Finn the warrior,Jake,The Lich mind controlling Princess Bubblegum.

Battle of Ooo
Finn is my second favorite character so I tend to draw him a lot.(Flame Princess being my fave!)

Deciding to go into more modern design work with my music inspired art so I went with my favorite female led band,Florence and the Machine. I just love them because their music always hits me in the feels. Design speaking wise I don't care for symmetrical images. Turning the face to one side a t least helped me to deal with that. I guess it also to do with the portfolio classes I had with one teacher who trained us to push personality with body gestures. I value that so much I scoff at characters in graphic design with out it! As you can tell she is leaning to one side.
