Artist Feature:Kristina H. (ZellyKat)

Kristina with her feisty cat Stark
Kristina is possible the hardest working lady I know besides me. Yes I said that and you all know it's true lol. We met at Art Institute Los Angeles and had many classes together. The ones I fondly and foggily remember is the long over night render times in the computer lab. Remember what I said about hard working? Yea we LIVED at school! She went on to work for Sassoon Film Design as a post production artist on Harry Potter 7 part 1 and Green Hornet.(Kristina's IMDB) She worked her way to shift lead and was the best one I'd ever worked with.

Kristina,or better known in the internet world as ZellyKat, is an illustrator, character designer, writer, and cosplayer. She's basically a renascence woman like me. Kristina creates detailed works from cute creature designs she has made for UniCreatures to straight from life paintings of animals.Even making spot on fan arts of characters from many different styles including American to Japanese style shows.

Kristina is by far the most considerate and focused artist I love working with. From team member to leader she always takes charge while still meeting others on an equal and personal level.

Aurrora:The Beauty of the Dawn

The Light Dark Angel
These are a few of her original characters that are based on real life animals;exotic and local as well as myths, stories and history. My favorite thing about Kristina and her art is that she is always on the quest for improvement to her own high standards. Aurrora and The Light Dark Angel were both re-drawn from older work of hers just because she challenges her self to always improve even on completed works.

Her fan works are just as detail oriented because she can go from spot on show style to manipulating her own take on the characters. Here are 2 great examples of this.

I got her to answer a few questions for me too!

Q)Why did you start making art?

A) I've always been a creative person. Be it visual, performing or creative art, it's something I've always done. As long as there is a way to express myself, I will give it a try.

Q)What is your favorite medium?
A) I love digital because it's less messy and I have the power of control+z and save. Photoshop it my all time favorite because it's not limited to just illustration but I can retouch, manipulate and sometimes even animate with it.

Q)What kind of work do you like doing?
A) Character illustration. I love costumes, personality and the complexity of visual backstory.
